Retrieve logs and call traces on Cisco SX20 Telepresence endpoint

A really quick post, on how to obtain call traces and log files on an SX20.

The SX20's are actually pretty good when it comes to capturing trace files and packet captures.

NOTE - Ensure SSH session is being captured.

  • SSH in to the codec CLI and run the following commands
  • log ctx SipPacket debug 9
  • log ctx H323Packet debug 9  (if applicable when running SX20 as H323 endpoint)
  • log output on (This will output all the logging to the SSH session terminal session screen, or preferably save the output to a file)
  • Start call and recreate the problem
  • Disconnect the call, and turn off the logging (within 3 minutes)
  • log output off
  • log ctx SipPacket debug off
  • log ctx H323Packet debug off
  • Send the output of the SSH session

  • From the Web GUI Goto Diagnostics -> Log files ;  Enable extended logging with full packet capture
  • Start call and recreate the problem
  • Disconnect the call, and turn off the logging (within 3 minutes)
  • From the Web GUI Goto Diagnostics -> Log files ;  Download the logs and packet capture

Then to actually download the raw pcap file:
